The F. Magnotta Wines Story

Our story is one of passion turned into purpose. It begins with our owner, Fred Magnotta, who spent years sharing his love for Italy by leading tour groups through its historic cities and picturesque countrysides. With his extensive experience and deep appreciation for Italian culture, his tours became renowned for their authenticity. It was during one of these trips that a chance encounter sparked a world-changing idea.

The First Vintage

While visiting a small, family-run winery with one of his tour groups, the owner, impressed by Fred's passion, posed a simple question: had he ever considered importing wine to the United States? That question planted a seed. Fred returned to Pennsylvania, gathered his personal savings, and took a leap of faith, investing it all into a single container of hand-selected Italian wine.

Aging to Perfection

He began selling it directly to local restaurants, driving from one establishment to another. He wasn't just a salesman; he was a storyteller who forged lasting relationships built on a foundation of trust and exceptional personal service. His passion and hands-on approach resonated with chefs and restaurateurs who were looking for more than just a supplier—they were looking for a true partner in wine.

A Full-Bodied Operation

As word of his unique portfolio and superior service spread, demand grew. Fred started bringing on more wineries and methodically expanded his reach. He launched his own successful private label, Rocco & Rocchina—whose Rocchina Prosecco is now one of the top-selling proseccos in all of Pennsylvania. Today, F. Magnotta Wines partners with over 30 of the most prestigious wineries in Italy and beyond. The one-man operation has grown into a thriving enterprise with a team of nearly 20 dedicated employees, including 6 sales representatives who cover every corner of the state, moving dozens of containers of wine each year.
